Time in Line

I'm sitting in a Starbucks on Franklin Street, the epicenter of Chapel Hill life and leisure, catching up on some work that refuses, no matter how I beg or plead, to do itself. In the span of 5 minutes, a relatively empty coffee store erupts in business, as a dozen thirsty, sleep deprived, anti-hipsters decide that it is, indeed, coffee time.

The ones unlucky enough to have entered the store last will be standing in this line, scrolling through their Instagram feeds for at least 10 minutes. 10 minutes of wasted time, on a beautiful day. 10 minutes of your face in your screen, with no human interaction, no productivity, and no pleasure. And this is all to pay $4 for a small, excuse me- tall - coffee.

And before you know it, life's gone by.

Seems like there are better way to spend my minutes and my dollars.

That said, I'm going to go stand in line for a doughnut. Thanks.
